Iran's men's sitting volleyball national team succeeded in reaching the semifinals of the 2026 World Championship. The team achieved this by defeating Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Japan, and Croatia.

In the semifinals, Iran will face Kazakhstan. The Tehran Times reported the team's previous victories.

The women's sitting volleyball team, however, lost to Canada 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-22) on the same day, missing the chance to reach the Final Four.

The championship, held at the World ParaVolley Development Centre, features 16 men's and 16 women's teams. The tournament is the first opportunity to secure direct qualification for the LA28 Paralympic Games; the men's and women's champions will earn their tickets.
