Iranian President Masoud Pezeşkiyan described the agreement signed with the US as a "historic document" and "a message from a strong Iran."
Pezeşkiyan made his statement via the US-based X account and shared a copy of the agreement signed by himself, US President Donald Trump, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who acted as a mediator in the process.
The president said that peace will be achieved through mutual respect and emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to international peace. In his statement, he expressed that his country will continue on its path while preserving its honor, independence, progress, and regional cooperation.
Pezeşkiyan also noted that the outcome reflects the voice of a people who did not give up their dignity despite threats and pressure. He described this development as the result of national resistance, political wisdom, and responsible diplomacy.
The Pakistani mediator announced on Wednesday that an agreement called the "Islamabad Accord" was signed electronically between Washington and Tehran. According to the announcement, the agreement took effect immediately.
As a first step, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and the US will lift its naval blockade. On Sunday, the US, Iran, and Pakistan announced that they had reached an agreement to end the war initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iran on February 28.
