Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a statement after the Cabinet meeting, strongly condemned Israel's intervention in international waters against the Global Sumud Fleet carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza. Erdoğan emphasized that the attack on the fleet, which set out to break the 17-year blockade of Gaza, is against international law. It was reported that Israeli forces seized more than 40 of the 54 vessels and detained approximately 300 activists. Erdoğan stated that this attack will not prevent international solidarity and that the pursuit of justice will continue. He also expressed that the international community must urgently act against Israel's lawless actions. Countries participating in the fleet include Turkey, Pakistan, Spain, and Brazil. Foreign ministers described this intervention as a violation of international and humanitarian law and demanded the immediate release of the detained activists. There are allegations that some activists were subjected to ill-treatment while in detention during previous similar interventions.
