Explosion in Mayfun kills one
A suspected object believed to have been left behind by earlier attacks exploded in the town of Mayfun, in Lebanon's southern Nabatieh Governorate. The explosion occurred near the earthen embankment between Mayfun and East Zutr and inside a tuk-tuk vehicle.
Lebanon's Directorate General of Civil Defense said that one person was killed and three others were injured in the incident. Another official briefing on the same incident gave the toll as two dead and two injured.
Attacks and military activity in southern Lebanon
Machine-gun fire targeted the direction of the town of Haddatha in the Bint Jbeil district. In Mansouri, a bomb dropped from an Israeli drone caused a fire, while explosions were heard across the area throughout the night.
Following developments around Mansouri, artillery shells were fired at the town of Majdal Zoun and the surrounding valleys. A house was blown up in the town of Khiam in the Marjayoun district, while four shells were fired into the area from a Merkava tank.
Israeli forces advanced toward the western parts of the town of Mays al-Jabal. After artillery fire struck a house, intense machine-gun fire followed and a fire broke out in the area.
Airstrikes around Nabatieh
A house in the Deir neighborhood of the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa was targeted and destroyed in an airstrike during the night. After midnight, the Ali al-Taher Hill, the area around Kafr Rumman and the outskirts of the town of Deir Siryan were also hit by airstrikes.
A new explosion occurred in Haddatha at dawn. Flares were used over the Tyre and Bint Jbeil areas during the night, while an Israeli drone flew over the Litani River bed from Qasimiya to the Qaqaiyeh Bridge.
Attacks continue despite framework agreement
Tel Aviv and Beirut signed a framework agreement on June 26 under U.S. mediation. However, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have continued since March 2.
The overall toll from the attacks has reached 4,335 deaths and 12,277 injuries. The agreement calls for Israeli forces to withdraw gradually from all occupied areas and for the Lebanese army to be deployed there.
The framework agreement also includes the disarmament of armed groups. Israel has held some areas in southern Lebanon for decades and others since its attacks during 2023-2024. During the current attacks, Israeli forces advanced more than 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory.
