French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Syria has opened the door to a new era of diplomatic and economic cooperation in the region. The more than 16 strategic agreements signed between the two countries cover energy, infrastructure, economy, aviation, transportation, and investment.
A Syrian Foreign Ministry representative described Macron's visit to Damascus as a "historic turning point" in relations. The representative stated that the visit has yielded significant results in political, economic, and investment fields.
The Syrian official emphasized that the signed agreements are a sign of mutual trust between the two countries and said that these steps will create new cooperation opportunities in economic, investment, and development areas.
The representative noted that the outcomes of the visit show that Syria has entered a new phase of international partnership based on mutual interest and respect, and that attempts to destabilize the country cannot alter this process.
Referring also to the two bomb attacks that occurred during Macron's visit, the Syrian representative said state institutions managed the situation effectively and that these actions could not affect the visit's program or objectives.
The official underscored that the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks will be brought to justice, saying, "Justice will certainly hold accountable the terrorist hands that do not want stability for Syria or the world."
The Syrian representative stated that terrorist acts cannot stop Syria's reconstruction process and its opening to the outside world, adding, "Just as terrorism cannot stop the march toward stability and international cooperation, it also cannot undermine Syria's reconstruction and the strengthening of its international partnerships."
