Dozens of people demonstrated on Friday in the Ghwayran district of Hasakah in northeastern Syria under the slogan "Friday for asserting sovereignty," calling on the Syrian government to assert its authority across the province and reactivate state institutions.

Videos showed protesters pulling down flags of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Kurdish YPG and throwing them on the ground, while a young man climbed a water tower to remove a flag. Syria’s Internal Security Forces deployed patrols across the city.
