Hebron governor says Israel has besieged city with 106 gates and continues work at Ibrahimi Mosque
Hebron Governor Khalid Dudin announced that Israel has besieged Hebron in the southern West Bank with 106 iron gates and closed 16 roads with earth berms. Dudin said that Israel's work on the roof of the Ibrahimi Mosque is part of a plan to fully take control of the mosque.
Hebron Governor Khalid Dudin said in a press conference on Tuesday that Israel had besieged the city of Hebron in the southern West Bank with 106 iron gates and closed 16 roads with earth mounds.
Dudin condemned Israel’s ongoing work on the roof of the Ibrahimi Mosque, alleging that it is part of a plan to fully take over the mosque and alter its structure.
The governor stated that Israel has continued its work at the Ibrahimi Mosque for the second day and is trying to create a new situation aimed at seizing the mosque with the support of the government and settlers.
He also said that Israeli authorities are trying to assert control over the mosque by taking over electrical panels and water facilities and by preventing the call to prayer for ten days.
Dudin said that the Hebron Governorate, in cooperation with the municipality, the Reconstruction Committee, and local institutions, has prepared a plan to strengthen the Palestinian presence in the mosque and its courtyards, and that it will take action with international bodies and platforms to stop these practices. He did not provide details about the plan.
