Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem sent a congratulatory and supportive letter to Khalil al-Hayya, who was elected as Hamas' new Political Bureau chief. In the letter, full support was pledged for the resistance against Israel, and the attacks on Gaza were strongly condemned.
Sheikh Qassem stated that al-Hayya's election reflects Hamas' determination and resolve to resist. Condemning Israel's crimes in the besieged Gaza Strip, Qassem reiterated Hezbollah's commitment to the resistance and said he believes that victory will ultimately belong to the resistance.
The Hezbollah leader stressed that al-Hayya's leadership carries the legacy of martyred leaders such as Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, Ismail Haniyeh, and Yahya Sinwar. He stated that the Lebanese resistance movement will continue to support Hamas in the struggle to 'reclaim lands and rights.'
Qassem noted that this commitment was also shared by the martyred Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and other martyred leaders of the movement. He also stated that the vision of Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei continues to guide the struggle for Jerusalem and Palestine.
The Hezbollah leader said that despite Israel's attacks since October 2023, it has failed to eliminate Hamas or force it to surrender. 'We have all confronted the war of the Israeli entity and American tyranny with determination and sacrifice. Despite three years since the Al-Aqsa Flood, this enemy has not achieved its goals of committing genocide, ending the resistance, or forcing the resistance to surrender,' he said.
Qassem stated that the widespread destruction and killing of civilians have only strengthened the commitment to the cause of 'liberation and dignity,' saying, 'This brutality has led to destruction and the killing of women, children, and life itself. But it has ignited the determination to preserve the trust: liberation and dignity.'
Ending his letter with a Quranic verse, Qassem wished al-Hayya success 'until victory and liberation.'
After failing to achieve its goals in the Gaza war, Israel shifted its focus to the northern front, launching a ground operation and numerous attacks on Lebanon. Israel continues to occupy parts of southern Lebanon, including territories it has held for decades as well as additional areas seized during attacks between October 2023 and November 2024.
According to official Lebanese figures, since the latest wave of attacks began on March 2, Israeli attacks have killed 4,328 people and wounded 12,227.
The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, for its part, continues its military operations against Israeli forces, stating that resistance is necessary as long as the attacks and occupation persist.
