Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced in an interview with Qatar TV in Doha, the capital of Qatar, that Turkey and Qatar are in close coordination to reduce tensions between the US and Iran.
Fidan stressed that Washington and Tehran returning to the negotiating table as soon as possible is vital for regional stability. He said they hope to receive positive news soon thanks to Qatar's diplomatic efforts.
Pointing to the risk of conflict, which poses a direct threat to the Gulf economy and regional security architecture, the Minister said, "We sincerely desire Iran and America to return to reconciliation as soon as possible." Fidan said that a memorandum of understanding had been prepared in the past with Pakistan's mediation, Qatar's active contribution, and Turkey's assistance, but unfortunately the parties moved away from it, and this process needs to be revived.

Expressing his satisfaction with Doha's activation of all constructive communication channels to reduce tensions, Fidan stated that Qatar's stability and security directly serve Ankara's national interests.
Recalling that the foundations of the strategic partnership between the two countries were laid during the era of the late Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Fidan described him as "a visionary leader of the entire Islamic world." He noted that the current Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has strengthened this legacy, turning Ankara-Doha cooperation into a model for the Middle East.
"From Lebanon and Afghanistan to Sudan, Gaza, and the Iran issue, Turkish-Qatari solidarity is appreciated by other actors," Fidan said, stressing that the region needs constructive cooperation, not confrontation.
Also drawing attention to the socioeconomic progress made by Gulf countries, particularly Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Oman, the Minister added that Ankara will continue to develop partnerships with Islamic world countries to preserve regional stability.
