Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Bekayi announced that clearing the Strait of Hormuz of mines is within Iran's area of responsibility and there is no need for intervention by other parties.
Bekayi answered questions from journalists at a weekly press conference in the capital Tehran. Evaluating French President Emmanuel Macron's statement that Paris would clear the Strait of Hormuz of mines in cooperation with its partners, Bekayi said, "Clearing the Strait of Hormuz of mines is Iran's responsibility. There is no need for intervention by other parties. Commenting on every issue does not mean taking responsibility."

The Iranian spokesman noted that there is currently no scheduled meeting with the US, and expressed hope that efforts to release Iran's frozen assets would yield results. Bekayi emphasized that for the negotiation process with the US to begin, the provisions of the memorandum of understanding must be fulfilled and implementation must be sustained. "As long as the other party fulfills its obligations, we will fulfill ours. Tomorrow, our expert team will hold talks with the Qatari side in Doha regarding the frozen assets," he said.
Also evaluating the recent US attacks on Iran, Bekayi stated that Tehran has not left any action unanswered, saying, "Our armed forces have the capacity to respond to any attack."
