Despite US President Donald Trump's remarks about a deal being signed soon, Iran announced that no final decision has been made regarding the proposed agreement. The Tehran side stressed that although the talks appear to be concluded, no definitive outcome has been reached.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bekayi stated that the country has "not reached a final conclusion" on the deal. Bekayi noted that while most of the text is completed, negotiations have stalled due to new demands and a shift in stance from the US side.
Trump, in his statement, gave the impression that the contacts had received approval from Iran's highest leadership and mentioned that planned attacks had been canceled. The US President also said that the time and place for signing would be announced soon.
Trump's remarks resonated in global markets as well. Stock prices rose while oil prices fell, strengthening expectations that the conflict might be nearing an end.
However, the Iranian press approached Trump's statements cautiously. Tasnim news agency recalled that the US President had mentioned the deal being close 38 times in the past two months and advised caution toward such announcements until an official statement comes from Tehran.
Later, Trump maintained his optimism in comments to reporters and responded "I understand the answer is yes" when asked if Iranian leader Masoud Pezeshkian had approved the proposed plan.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also announced that a conversation took place between Trump and Netanyahu. According to the statement, Trump said that any agreement signed with Tehran would require the removal of Iran's enriched nuclear material and dismantling of its missile infrastructure.
The statements from the parties highlighted the difference between the impression that the deal has been announced and Iran's stance that the negotiation process is not yet closed. When and under what conditions the process will be finalized remains uncertain.
