Kermanshah Governor Habibi met with Iran's Ambassador to Baghdad, Mohammad-Kazem Ale-Sadegh, to discuss a key project that will strengthen regional connections. The meeting, aimed at further bolstering economic and religious ties between the two countries, prioritized the acceleration of the Kermanshah-Baghdad railway line and the preparation of the Sumar border crossing.
Governor Habibi noted that approximately 40 percent of Iran's exports to Iraq pass through Kermanshah's border crossings. He stressed that completing the Kermanshah-Khosravi railway line and connecting it to Baghdad would greatly facilitate this trade flow and the transportation of Arbaeen pilgrims.
Recalling that over one million pilgrims used the Khosravi border crossing during last year's Arbaeen season, Habibi said the railway project and the preparation of the Sumar crossing are critical to improving pilgrim transit. Iran's Ambassador to Baghdad, Ale-Sadegh, promised to follow up on the matter closely.
