Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi said the memorandum process for an agreement between Iran and the US is closer to completion than ever before. The statement came just hours after US President Donald Trump called the leaked peace terms "unrealistic."
In a post on X, Arakchi said they are waiting for the agreement text to be finalized. He also warned media outlets against speculation about the content and said details would be shared with the public at the appropriate time.
The US-based news agency AP, citing three officials from the region, reported that Washington and Tehran are close to signing an agreement aimed at ending the war. The report also included a statement from a senior US official saying the draft text contains provisions for the removal and destruction of Iran's nuclear materials.
Expectations have increased in recent days that the two sides are very close to a compromise, although some issues and tensions remain in the negotiations. Nevertheless, Arakchi's statement indicated that the negotiation process is at a critical juncture.
Since no official details have been shared, uncertainty remains about the final version of the text and the conditions to be implemented.
