Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman said the Mecca Defense Alliance established with Türkiye and Pakistan aims to bolster regional stability. He was delivering the annual royal address on behalf of King Salman at the opening of the third year of the Shura Council’s ninth session on Sept. 30.

“To strengthen regional stability, shield it from the repercussions of tensions and conflicts, and coordinate efforts, the Mecca Defense Alliance was established between the kingdom, Türkiye and Pakistan,” he said. Signed on Aug. 7, the pact establishes collective deterrence under which armed aggression against one signatory is considered aggression against all three, building on the Pakistan-Saudi Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement of September 2025.

The crown prince said Gulf security is “indivisible,” that the kingdom will respond firmly to any threat, and that the Houthis had chosen “chaos and destruction.” He also announced a multinational maritime coalition to protect international waterways and condemned Israeli attacks in Gaza and violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
