Masked Israeli settlers on Saturday attacked a European diplomatic delegation from France, Belgium and Poland in Taybeh, a largely Christian village east of Ramallah, as the delegation visited Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest.
Seven settlers on ATVs surrounded the delegation’s cars, demanded IDs and smashed the window of a Belgian consulate vehicle, according to testimonies cited by Israeli Army Radio. They also kicked a 78-year-old French mayor, who was hurt but did not need hospital care.
In another clip posted with French text, the delegation’s cars are seen halted on the road to Taybeh, with the diplomats and the French mayor beside them and masked men standing close by.
Condemnations and an investigation

The Israeli military condemned the “severe act of violence” but said the visit had not been coordinated with it. Foreign Minister Gideon Saar also condemned the attack, police opened an investigation, and Belgium’s foreign minister vowed to press for sanctions.
Attacks on the harvest continue
The same day, settlers fired at olive harvesters and solidarity activists in Deir Jarir, stabbed about 20 sheep to death in Kafr Malik and stole livestock in Masafer Yatta south of Hebron, according to WAFA. Palestinian media reported three Palestinians wounded in separate attacks.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least four people have been killed and more than 100 injured since the olive harvest began this month.
