Improving defense coordination between Syria and Jordan was on the agenda of a phone call between Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Kasra and Jordanian Chief of Staff Majdi al-Harasis.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense said the two sides discussed ways to advance cooperation in the defense field, as well as several issues of mutual interest. They also addressed strengthening coordination between the two countries.

Strategic partnership goal remains in place
The goal of transforming relations between the two countries into a comprehensive strategic partnership was also discussed during a meeting held in Damascus on Sept. 9. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani expressed their commitment to developing cooperation between institutions in various fields.

Jordan and Syria have recently held meetings at the ministerial and technical delegation levels. The two sides signed an agreement on air services in June and continue cooperation in trade, transport, customs and water.
