Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in a speech at a Republic Day ceremony that the years of sovereignty had brought significant achievements, stressing that present-day challenges did not allow the country to rest on the successes of the past. He added that Kazakhstan was approaching the 35th anniversary of its independence as a dynamically developing state respected by the international community.
Tokayev said the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty on October 25 opened a new chapter in the country’s history and laid the foundation for independence. He noted that a new constitution had been adopted, a unicameral parliament called Qorultay had been established and the post of vice president had been created.

According to the figures he presented, Kazakhstan’s economy has grown by about 30 percent since 2019, gross domestic product has approached $350 billion and per capita income has exceeded $15,000. The country attracted $155 billion in foreign investment over the past seven years and has signed 355 trade agreements worth $60 billion since the beginning of the year.
Tokayev said Kazakhstan was strengthening its position as a transportation and logistics hub in Eurasia. Transport, energy and digital communications routes linking Europe with Asia pass through its territory, while the country produces more than 150,000 passenger cars and commercial vehicles annually.
