Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Türkiye and Lebanon in several strategic areas of the energy sector with Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Joseph Saddi.
The meeting took place in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The ministers discussed potential projects between the two countries involving electricity interconnection, pipelines and hydrocarbons.

Bayraktar said the talks addressed opportunities for joint work that could help strengthen energy supply security at the regional level.
The Turkish minister said Türkiye has extensive experience in energy infrastructure and diversifying supply sources, adding that this expertise could be turned into tangible cooperation projects aligned with the needs and priorities of Lebanon’s energy sector.
The meeting followed earlier talks between the two sides on strengthening cooperation in electricity, oil and gas, as Lebanon works to develop its infrastructure and improve its ability to meet its energy needs.

Projects to support regional energy security
Bayraktar said Ankara attaches importance to developing projects between Türkiye and Lebanon that could support reliable and uninterrupted access to energy across the region.
He added that potential cooperation between the two countries would not be limited to meeting national needs, but could also contribute to stability and shared prosperity in the region.

The two sides had previously discussed areas including electricity interconnection, gas supplies, exploration for energy resources, investment in solar and clean energy, and electricity generation projects.
The new talks in New York are part of the two countries’ efforts to turn these issues into practical areas of cooperation, with a focus on energy infrastructure, supply security and source diversification.
