In a statement issued for World Humanitarian Day on August 19, the Foreign Ministry said ensuring the safety of United Nations personnel and humanitarian workers and delivering aid to those in need were priorities.
The ministry stressed that humanitarian aid must reach those in need quickly, safely and without obstruction. The statement, issued to mark World Humanitarian Day, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2008, drew attention to the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers and the responsibility to save lives.
Gaza among the priority areas
As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens, the number of humanitarian workers who have lost their lives while carrying out their duties has reached the highest level in United Nations history. The statement commemorated with gratitude United Nations personnel and humanitarian workers who were targeted and killed while on duty.
Türkiye will continue its efforts to protect humanitarian workers and deliver aid to people in need in different parts of the world. Gaza is one of the priority areas of these efforts.
907 aid workers affected in 2025

According to a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 907 humanitarian workers were killed, injured or abducted in 2025. The number of humanitarian workers killed in Gaza reached 186.
