During excavations in the El-Haraş area between the villages of Ummu Safa and Deyr es-Sudan northwest of Ramallah in the West Bank, the only pipeline supplying water to the village was destroyed. Following the incident, Ummu Safa was reported to be left without water.
It was reported that efforts to establish illegal settlements in the area have rendered the village's water infrastructure unusable. This situation has emerged as a new form of destruction directly affecting life in the village.
Pressure Increasing in the Area
Ummu Safa is surrounded on all sides by illegal settlements, and Palestinians are reportedly struggling to access their lands due to Israeli attacks. The damage to the village's water pipeline has further worsened daily life in the area.
Cities, villages, and towns in the West Bank frequently face attacks. These include shootings causing injury and death, beatings, property destruction, damage to crops and livestock, and preventing farmers from accessing their lands.
The recent destruction in the El-Haraş area once again highlighted the combined impact of settlement pressure and infrastructure damage. The disabling of the only water pipeline supplying the village has made access to basic needs in Ummu Safa even more difficult.
