According to Israel's Channel 13, the US administration will demand that Israel halt violence by settlers and Israeli soldiers against Palestinians in the West Bank.
The report, citing unnamed US sources, says the Washington administration is deeply concerned about the rise in incidents it describes as 'crimes committed with nationalist motives' in the West Bank, and about repeated reports documenting Israeli soldiers' attacks on Palestinians.
Among the US demands is that Israel provide an explanation and report on the law enforcement measures it has taken against these violations. The US administration believes the current situation requires greater oversight and monitoring.
The demands are expected to be raised at the Trump-Netanyahu summit in Washington next week.
The US demands are not limited to the security dimension. Washington will also ask Israel to ease restrictions at military checkpoints, take economic steps to support the Palestinian Authority, and make efforts to reduce violence.
Meanwhile, according to official Palestinian data, the Israeli army and settlers carried out 1,659 attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in May. Of these attacks, 1,108 were carried out by the army and 551 by settlers.
The attacks included direct physical violence, uprooting of trees, burning of fields, blocking farmers' access to their land, confiscation of property, and demolition of homes and agricultural structures.
Since October 8, 2023, the Israeli escalation in the West Bank has resulted in the deaths of 1,173 Palestinians, 12,666 injured, approximately 23,000 detained, and 33,000 displaced.
