Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş commented on the protests that took place at the United Nations General Assembly during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address.
Speaking during a meeting in Ankara to assess the legislative session, Kurtulmuş said what happened in New York reflected the growing international opposition to Netanyahu and the policies of the Israeli government.

Kurtulmuş said Netanyahu came to New York in haste and then left as if he were fleeing, adding that those responsible for crimes against humanity would be held accountable wherever they went.

The Turkish Parliament speaker also recalled remarks he made nearly two years ago, saying that a time would come when people would seek to avoid being seen alongside Netanyahu and his government, even inside the building itself.

During Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly, representatives of a large number of countries left the chamber in protest. Anadolu Agency’s review of scenes from the General Assembly found that representatives of around 70 countries either left the chamber or did not attend the address.
Türkiye was among the countries taking part in the protest, while further demonstrations against Netanyahu and Israel’s policies in Gaza took place on the streets of New York and around the United Nations headquarters.
Kurtulmuş said the scenes at the General Assembly showed the scale of the international opposition Netanyahu faces, stressing that those responsible for actions committed in Gaza would face accountability.
