The 5th AlBaraka Summit, which will focus on the relationship between Islamic economy and justice, accountability, and social responsibility, will be held in London on October 13-14. The summit, themed "Ethics in Action: Rebuilding Foundations and Advancing the Global Impact of Islamic Economy," will bring together representatives of the global Islamic finance sector for a two-day program.
Global direction of Islamic finance to be discussed
The summit program will cover Islamic banking, capital markets, social finance, waqf and zakat, digitalization, and entrepreneurship. The contribution of global financial centers to the development of Islamic economy will also be addressed in the sessions.
A session for senior executives of Islamic banks on the first day will assess developments in policy and regulation, as well as the sector’s global direction. Participants will also discuss improving regulatory frameworks, the role of ethics in public policy, and priorities for the sector’s future.
Ethical investment and financial inclusion on the agenda
The meetings will focus on how Islamic banking, investment, and capital markets can strengthen ethical confidence, support long-term development, and expand the international impact of funds. Financial inclusion will also be among the summit’s prominent topics.

The second day’s sessions will examine the future of the sector, along with the role of global financial centers in the development of Islamic finance based on ethical foundations. Technology and digital transformation will also feature on the program.
Khalawi: Principles must be put into practice
Yousef Hassan Khalawi, secretary-general of the AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy, said Islamic economy consists of more than just financial products. Khalawi said this approach links economic activity to justice, accountability, and responsibility toward society.
Khalawi said the priority should be not only to discuss these principles but also to put them into practice, adding that London offers an important setting for this discussion by bringing together representatives of global Islamic finance.
