US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said: “The Iranians say they will open the straits if a deal is reached. The straits are already open.” He added that only 15 million barrels of Iranian oil remain on the water and that Iran would run out of oil to sell to China within about two weeks.
President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that a record amount of oil, more than before the war, moved through the Strait of Hormuz overnight. On Saturday he rejected Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s seven-day plan to reopen the strait and resume talks.
