Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that Iran is “fully prepared for the war to be resumed” and will “stand firm in the face of any aggression against us, even if it comes to a doomsday war.” He added that Iran also stands ready for diplomacy and that “it is up to President Trump to choose.”
Araghchi said enriching uranium to 60% is not illegal and remains within Iran’s NPT commitments for peaceful purposes. He said Tehran offered a deal on its 60% material in 2025 and 2026 and that it could still be considered if Washington proves its goodwill. Under Iran’s seven-day plan, he said, the Strait of Hormuz would open on day six and talks would resume on day seven, provided the US completes “certain things” within four to five days.
In the same interview, Araghchi described the seven-point plan Iran conveyed to Washington through Qatari mediation as “extremely reasonable” and said rejecting it without reason would be a US mistake. Tehran’s priorities include the release of frozen assets and permission to sell oil; Trump said on Saturday that he had rejected the terms.
