CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper announced that the international shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz had been cleared of Iranian sea mines and were open to maritime traffic.
Cooper said international transit routes had been reopened following the mine-clearing operation and that navigation had accelerated.
Numerous military units took part in mine-clearing operations
Navy divers and naval commandos took part in the operation, along with air assets from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.
Cooper said the completion of the operation had enabled the international shipping lanes to reopen and maritime traffic to increase.
Passage assistance provided to around 1,500 commercial vessels
In recent months, US forces assisted around 1,500 commercial vessels carrying approximately 750 million barrels of crude oil to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Seventy-five vessels turned back
Cooper also claimed that since the United States restarted its naval blockade in July, no vessel other than those authorized for humanitarian aid had entered or left Iranian ports without approval from US authorities.
The CENTCOM commander said 75 vessels that had attempted to breach the blockade were turned back, while three vessels that failed to comply with instructions were rendered inoperable.
