EU aims to invest more in Syria’s reconstruction and refugees’ return
Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa said their meeting with Shara on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York went well. They said they aim to increase investment in Syria’s reconstruction and the safe, voluntary return of refugees.
The European Union announced that it aims to invest more in Syria’s reconstruction and the safe, voluntary return of refugees.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa met with Shara on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. In a joint statement on the X platform, they said the meeting went well.
The joint statement described the EU as a reliable partner for a peaceful, stable and inclusive transition in Syria, free from harmful external interference.
The statement said the EU was actively working on Syria’s reconstruction and the safe, voluntary return of refugees, and aiming to advance the EU-Syria partnership.
