Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The two ministers discussed the latest developments in the negotiations in the Middle East.
In a post on the 'X Social' platform on Saturday following the call, Fidan said that he and his Iranian counterpart assessed the current state of the regional negotiation process. He emphasized that Turkey will continue its efforts to end the conflicts in the region and establish lasting peace.
Deadlock in the Negotiation Process
The Washington and Tehran administrations had begun negotiations on June 18 by signing a memorandum of understanding to reach a final agreement. However, the process is deadlocked due to disagreements over the safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most strategic chokepoints for global energy and trade.

On February 28, the US and Israel launched an attack on Iran. According to Tehran's statement, more than 3,000 people were killed in the attack. In Iran's retaliatory strikes, it was reported that American and Israeli soldiers were killed.
