Details of the funeral and burial ceremonies for Iran's martyred Leader Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei have been announced.
Iman Attarzadeh, spokesperson for the committee commemorating the Leader's ascension, announced that the ceremonies will begin on Saturday, July 4, the 19th of Muharram.
Ceremony schedule and route
Attarzadeh said a two-day farewell ceremony for the Leader's body will be held at the Imam Khomeini Grand Musalla in Tehran.
The spokesperson stated that funeral prayers will be held in the cities of Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad, and that the funeral procession in Tehran will take place on Monday, July 6.
Funeral ceremonies in the city of Qom are reported to be held on Tuesday, July 7.
Martyred family members to also attend ceremony
Spokesperson Attarzadeh announced that four family members martyred alongside the Leader in an enemy attack will also participate in the funeral processions in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad.
These names include the Leader's son-in-law Dr. Mesbah al-Huda, his daughter Seyyedeh Boshra Hosseini Khamenei, his daughter-in-law Zahra Haddad Adel, and his granddaughter Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani.
Reason for postponement and chosen symbols
Attarzadeh noted that the ceremonies were planned from the first days of the Leader's martyrdom but were postponed due to war conditions and the savage aggression of the American-Zionist enemy.
He emphasized that protecting the health, safety, and security of the people was the highest priority for the Leadership office and organizers.
It was stated that the slogan "We Must Rise" and the symbol of a "Clenched Fist" have been chosen for the ceremonies.
