The Gaza Strip Government Media Office, issuing a statement on the humanitarian toll in the Gaza Strip, said more than 21,500 Palestinian children had been killed in the war that began in October 2023.
According to the office, 1,244 of the 1,275 mosques in the region had been targeted, while 1,077 had been completely destroyed. The statement alleged that the Israeli army had systematically targeted civilians, homes and places of worship during its attacks in Gaza.
Call to mediators for a ceasefire
The Gaza Strip Government Media Office condemned the continued targeting of civilians, children and places of worship. The office urged mediators to pressure Israel to stop violating the ceasefire and fully comply with the agreement.
Threat to intensify attacks
The statement came as threats to intensify attacks on Gaza again emerged. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened to increase assassinations and evacuate residential areas, citing kites reaching Israeli areas from Gaza.
The Israeli army said on Saturday that no suspicious substance had been found in four kites seized near Gaza. The army also said the kites posed no danger to the public.
Death and injury toll
Israeli army attacks on Gaza since October 2023 have killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and injured more than 174,000 people.
