In a post on his official Telegram account, Iran’s leader Ali Hamaney called on the Iranian people to maintain "national unity." The message emphasized that social unity is a crucial source of strength.
The post stated that everyone, especially politicians, should avoid actions and political conflicts that could harm social unity. The message was published amid ongoing tensions surrounding a controversial potential agreement with the United States.
Debate Over the Agreement Continues
Mahmoud Nabavian, a conservative member of the Iranian Parliament, said the agreement includes provisions for the free and urgent opening of the Strait of Hormuz without any restrictions, as well as clauses related to uranium dilution.
Nabavian also pointed out uncertainties regarding the lifting of sanctions on Iran, the release of frozen assets, and Iran’s access to a $300 billion fund. He questioned whether the text serves national interests.
Protests Held in Tehran
A group of Iranians gathered at Ibn Sina Square in the capital Tehran to protest the ongoing negotiations with the US. During the demonstration, slogans were chanted against Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and head of the negotiation team, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The protest showed that objections to the agreement process are not limited to political circles but also resonate on the streets. Hamaney’s call for unity stood out amid this contentious atmosphere.
