Hezbollah announced that it would deliver an “appropriate” response to protect Lebanon and its people, accusing Israel of intensifying its attacks in southern Lebanon and targeting civilians.
Hezbollah described Saturday’s attacks as “an aggressive escalation” and “a brutal massacre.” The group said Israel’s attacks and violations in Lebanon, as well as its attempts to impose a new reality on the country, could not continue.
The statement also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Hezbollah alleged that Netanyahu was escalating the war for political and electoral goals, seeking to strengthen his domestic political position, advance his electoral objectives and win the support of the far right.
Call on Lebanon’s authorities to halt the attacks
The group called on Lebanese authorities to use all available means to end the Israeli attacks. Hezbollah also called for an end to what it described as “humiliating direct negotiations” and urged that Israel not be granted concessions without compensation.
Hezbollah said its response would be aimed at defending Lebanon, its people, sovereignty and national dignity. The group reiterated that Israel’s attacks and violations would face an “appropriate” response.
Health Ministry: 11 people killed
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said 11 people were killed and 19 injured in Israel’s attacks on southern Lebanon.
The attacks took place after Lebanon and Israel reached a U.S.-backed framework agreement on June 26. The agreement provides for Israel’s gradual withdrawal from Lebanese territory, the continuation of negotiations and the deployment of the Lebanese army in areas vacated by Israel.
The disarmament of armed groups, including Hezbollah, is planned under the agreement. Israel’s attacks on Lebanon since March 2 have killed 4,335 people and injured 12,277, according to the reported figures.
Israel controls several areas in southern Lebanon, some for decades and others since the 2023–2024 war. Israeli forces were said to have advanced more than 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory during the current attacks.
