In Yemen, the Houthis claimed that aircraft they said belonged to Saudi Arabia carried out attacks on some areas in the capital Sana’a and the provinces of Saada, Taiz and Amran. The Iran-backed Houthis said the attacks targeted various locations in Sana’a and the aforementioned provinces.
Targets of the operation in Taiz
Yemen’s army, meanwhile, announced that 27 airstrikes had been conducted against Houthi positions and assembly areas in the southwestern province of Taiz.

Colonel Majid Abdullah al-Nuzayli, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said the operations targeted Houthi positions along the front line in Taiz. Al-Nuzayli described the attacks as “27 precise and intensive airstrikes.”
The army said the targets included missile depots, command and operations centers, supply and armament points, areas where the Houthis had gathered, and locations containing military vehicles. Al-Nuzayli claimed that numerous military vehicles and other equipment had been destroyed and that there were deaths and injuries among the Houthis.
Coalition announces air defense operation
Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi-led Arab coalition, announced that air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed ballistic missiles and drones sent toward Khamis Mushait and Jizan.

Al-Maliki also claimed that the Houthis had attacked the Taybah Power Plant in Medina with a drone two days earlier.
Yemen’s civil war
Yemen’s civil war began after the Houthis seized control of the capital Sana’a and some provinces in September 2014. The Saudi-led Arab coalition has supported Yemen’s government, which is recognized by the international community, since March 2015.
