‘Hürrem Sultan’ knocks next door after Meryem Uzerli hears Magnificent Century

A hotel guest got an unexpected visitor when Meryem Uzerli, the actress who played Hürrem Sultan in Magnificent Century, knocked on her door after hearing the series playing in the next room.

Uzerli filmed the moment on her phone, saying before heading to the door: “I don’t know if you can hear it, but my neighbor is watching Magnificent Century.” When the door opened, she said: “Hello, I noticed you are watching Magnificent Century,” leaving the guest visibly astonished.

The clip Uzerli posted on September 26 spread quickly. The series, which began airing in 2011, became hugely popular in the Arab world, where it is known as “Harim al-Sultan.”
