The Iranian Army responded to US President Donald Trump’s statement that damages incurred during attacks on ships in the region would be covered using Iran’s frozen assets. Iran Army Headquarters Spokesperson Ibrahim Zulfikari announced that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed to ships of countries complying with this plan.
In a written statement, Zulfikari described Trump’s proposal as “illegal.” The statement said: “Ships belonging to companies and countries that accept Trump’s proposal and will receive payments from Iran’s frozen assets will not be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.”
In a statement in recent days, US President Trump announced that any damage to ships and cargo during the ongoing attacks on Iran would be compensated using frozen Iranian assets controlled by the United States.
