The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that the US military carried out attacks targeting surveillance centers on the country's southern coast in the early hours of Wednesday. The statement said these attacks were a clear violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter and Article 1 of the ceasefire agreement.
The ministry stressed that the new attacks, combined with the US Treasury Department's revocation of the license for Iranian oil sales the previous night, violations in the Strait of Hormuz, and Israel's military aggression and terrorist acts against Lebanon, rendered the core sections of the ceasefire agreement ineffective.
Iran "sternly" reminded all governments, especially neighboring countries on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf, of their obligation to prevent the aggressor parties from using their territories and facilities in attacks against Iran. The statement said, "Any cooperation in committing the crime of aggression against Iran constitutes complicity and partnership in this crime."
While Washington's "repeated reneging" was strongly condemned, the responsibilities of the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General regarding regional and international peace and security were recalled. The statement also noted that the Iranian armed forces, "as they have repeatedly demonstrated before, will not hesitate to defend the country's territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and national security against US military aggression under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and will target the source of the attack."
