Iran's Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei made significant statements in a published message regarding the memorandum of understanding signed by the presidents of Iran and the United States.
Reason for granting approval
In his message, Khamenei said, "In principle, I had a different opinion, but I granted the approval because of the commitment given to me by the Honorable President, in his capacity as Chairman of the Supreme National Security Council, and by other members in their own names and on behalf of other members, that they would protect the rights of the Iranian nation and the Resistance Front, and because they expressed that they would accept the responsibility for this."
This statement indicates that the Leader's approval stemmed from the commitment of the President and members of the Supreme National Security Council to protect the rights of the Iranian people and the Resistance Front.
Distrustful approach to negotiations
Khamenei noted that due to serious doubts about the Zionist regime's adherence to a ceasefire in Lebanon and non-aggression in the south of that country, and because of the history of American presidents, especially Trump himself, not keeping their long-term promises, the 60-day negotiations must be entered with complete distrust.
The Leader emphasized that it must not be forgotten that the negotiations are being conducted with the "sworn enemy" of the Iranian people, and that global and regional developments must be closely monitored.
Reference to US desperation
In another part of the message, after referring to the compassion and goodwill of Iranian officials, the desperation of America was mentioned. Khamenei used the expression, "It was the US President who, out of desperation, used every lever for this."
It was stated that the real scene also showed that Trump needed this agreement more than Iran and was completely desperate due to internal and external problems and defeats on military fronts.
Warning and expectation
Khamenei said that under these conditions, preparations must be made for any anti-Iran action by the US after it emerges from the crisis, and that optimism and haste in reaching a final agreement must be avoided.
In the final part of his message, the Leader said, "From now on, we, you, the proud nation, and this humble servant, will await the fulfillment of the stated conditions."
Khamenei predicted that during this waiting period, the US and Israel would try to create division among the Iranian people and officials through propaganda tricks and psychological operations, and to influence the negotiations.
Accordingly, the message stated that Iran's understanding people and individuals of different tastes must neutralize the divisive goals of the enemy while continuing their support for the soldiers on the military and political arena.
