Iraqi Army Destroys ISIS Hideout in Anbar Desert with Two Airstrikes
The Iraqi army, following military intelligence monitoring, identified and destroyed an ISIS hideout deep in Anbar province with two airstrikes. A force composed of the Fifth Division and support units was dispatched to secure the area.
The Iraqi army destroyed a hideout belonging to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist organization with two airstrikes in the depths of Anbar province in western Iraq.
A statement from the Joint Operations Command stated that, as a result of military intelligence monitoring and planning by the command's targeting cell, a hideout belonging to the organization was identified in a remote area of the Anbar desert, and two airstrikes were carried out against this target.
The statement noted that a joint force composed of the Fifth Division and support units was dispatched to the area to secure the targeted zone.
It was emphasized that security forces will continue to pursue elements of the organization and clear out their dens.
Although the Iraqi government declared victory against ISIS in 2017, it is known that the organization continues its activities with sporadic attacks in some provinces in the north, west, and east. Iraqi authorities are conducting regular security and military operations to completely neutralize the remnants of the organization.
