Iraq's Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi announced that the roadmap for addressing weapons outside state control will be completed by June 30, 2027.

Al-Zaidi said the government would implement the process according to the agreed timelines and on the basis of a clear roadmap. At the center of the plan is the principle that decisions on war and peace belong to constitutional institutions.
The government plans to ban military action outside the authority of constitutional institutions. It will also work to fully disarm all non-Iraqi armed groups operating on Iraqi territory.

Al-Zaidi described October 1, 2026, as an important day for the Iraqi people. He also characterized the end of the international coalition's mission in Iraq as a major national achievement.
