Eleven Palestinians were detained in operations carried out in the West Bank on Sunday. The Israeli army detained two Palestinians in Bethlehem, eight in Jenin and one in the town of Tammun, in the south of Tubas province.
During raids on homes in Bethlehem, 15-year-old Majid Mahir Abdulfattah and 14-year-old Ahmed Mahmud Shawka were detained.
Homes searched in Jenin
Eight Palestinians were detained in operations in Jenin city and villages and towns across the province. Homes were searched during the raids, and field investigations were conducted involving some Palestinians.
The operations extended to the towns of Deir Abu Da'if, Jalbun, Hashimiya, Burqin, Rummana, Zububa, Silat al-Harithiya, Arraba, Ya'bad and Aaba. Israeli forces were deployed in some neighborhoods and streets and raided and searched numerous homes.
In the town of Tammun, in the south of Tubas province, one Palestinian was detained after Israeli forces raided his home.
Detentions increase in the West Bank
Since October 8, 2023, Palestinians have been killed and detained in raids across the West Bank, while homes and other structures have been demolished, mosques and vehicles burned, and farmland damaged. Farmers have also been prevented from reaching their fields, and Palestinians have been displaced.
A statement issued Thursday said that more than 100 Palestinians had been detained in the West Bank provinces within one week. It said the number of people detained since October 2023 had exceeded 25,000, excluding the thousands detained from the Gaza Strip.
