Syria's official news agency SANA announced that Israeli occupation forces carried out a military operation in the countryside of Daraa in southern Syria in the early hours of today.
According to the agency, an Israeli force consisting of more than ten military vehicles entered the Yarmouk basin in the western countryside of Daraa. It was stated that Israeli forces infiltrated the area between the villages of Maariye and Abidin and advanced to the outskirts of Abidin village.
SANA reported that the occupation forces searched a number of civilian homes in the area, causing fear and panic among the population. Israeli military vehicles were also noted to be active at other points in the western part of the region.
Violations in Southern Syria
The southern regions of Syria have been the scene of numerous violations, particularly Israeli airstrikes, ground operations, establishment of military checkpoints, raids on homes, and civilian arrests. It is reported that those arrested include children and shepherds.
Status of the 1974 Agreement
The Syrian government claims that Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement signed in 1974. It is alleged that Israel enters southern Syria to carry out raids and arrest operations against civilians, destroys land, and opens fire with bullets.
Syria demands the complete withdrawal of occupation forces from its territories and emphasizes that all Israeli actions in the south are invalid under international law. The Damascus administration calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities and stop the occupation practices.
