Jordanian authorities announced that air defense systems intercepted 10 of the 13 ballistic missiles that entered the country's airspace.
The other three missiles fell in sparsely populated areas away from residential settlements.
Iran and the United States issue reciprocal attack statements
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that Camp Titin, a U.S. Marine Corps base in Jordan, had been targeted with ballistic missiles in response to an attack it said the United States had carried out on a wedding hall in the Iranian city of Sirik on the coast of the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. Central Command had earlier announced that attacks had begun against targets belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran.
Following the U.S. military's announcement of the operation, explosions were heard in various areas around Iran's Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Konarak, near the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian military announced that it had launched retaliatory attacks with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles against the U.S. attacks.
