Jordan's King Abdullah II, in a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, called for an immediate halt to Israel's attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank.
According to a statement from the Jordanian Royal Court, King Abdullah said that Israel's 'dangerous escalation' must end. The call also stressed the urgent need to halt tensions in the Middle East and for the international community to intensify efforts to restore security and stability in the region.
This diplomatic contact took place as part of intensive efforts to limit the impact of military tensions between Washington and Tehran on international peace and security.
Humanitarian crisis in West Bank deepens
Israeli army raids and settler attacks continue to escalate tensions in many parts of the West Bank. Since the war on Gaza began in October 2023, attacks by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank have killed at least 1,182 Palestinians, injured around 13,000, and led to the detention of nearly 24,000.
These figures, based on official Palestinian data, reveal the extent of the humanitarian crisis in the region.
