Lebanon's Chief of Staff Rudolf Hakeem declared that they do not accept Israel's occupation of any part of Lebanese territory. Hakeem made the statement during a visit to military units in the south of the country on the occasion of Army Day.
The Chief of Staff said, "Every square meter of our land is our right. We reject Israel's continued occupation of any part of our territory."
Hakeem added, "Despite all difficulties, we will continue to stand by our people and accompany their return to their areas." He also said they believe Lebanon is an indivisible homeland whose borders are protected and whose stability is ensured by a single army.
Israeli attacks and ceasefire process
The Israeli army launched intensive airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2, occupying many settlements in the south. The Lebanese government announced that the number of internally displaced people in the country exceeded 1 million during this period.
US President Donald Trump announced on April 24 that the 10-day temporary ceasefire that took effect on April 17 had been extended by three weeks. After the third round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel under US mediation on May 14-15, the ceasefire was extended by 45 days starting from May 17.
In its latest data, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that the number of people killed as a result of Israeli attacks since March 2 has reached 4,333.
Meanwhile, after the fifth round of direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Washington on June 26, a framework agreement was signed between the two countries.
