New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he listened to Palestinian families he hosted at his official residence last week as they recounted how their lives had been torn apart. Mamdani said Palestinians’ demands were the same as those of everyone else: to reunite with their families and live in safety and dignity.
Speaking on a podcast on Thursday, Mamdani argued that the U.S. administration was not merely watching Palestinians being deprived of these rights, but was financing it through its support for Israel.
Mamdani says attacks in Gaza are continuing
Mamdani said Israel’s attacks on Palestinians in Gaza had continued for three years, adding that the attacks were ongoing despite some circles speaking of a ceasefire. He described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “the architect of a horrific genocide.”

Mamdani also said that the Israeli military killed an 11-year-old Palestinian child last week in an area of Gaza considered a safe zone.
He criticizes Netanyahu’s failure to be arrested in New York
The New York mayor described the federal government’s decision not to detain Netanyahu when he came to New York for United Nations General Assembly meetings, despite the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant, as unacceptable.

Criticizing the United States for still not joining the International Criminal Court, Mamdani said, “I believe the United States should be a member of the International Criminal Court.”
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in 2024 over alleged war crimes committed in Gaza.
The text also said that more than 74,000 people had been killed and more than 175,000 wounded in Gaza since October 8, 2023, with children and women making up most of those killed and injured.
