U.S. President Donald Trump accused individuals and media outlets who questioned the U.S. military’s munitions stockpiles of “treason” as the military operation against Iran continued.
In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump reacted to assessments that the United States was running out of munitions. He claimed that these individuals and outlets wanted him to fail rather than see the United States win the war.
Trump defends U.S. stockpiles
In another post, Trump said the United States had a “nearly unlimited amount” of munitions and maintained that it had more medium- and high-grade munitions than could be used in the current operation or in any other war that might break out.
Trump said U.S. munitions production was continuing at “levels never seen before” and stated that the country was stockpiling supplies and preparing for every possibility.
Arms sales to allies to resume
Trump said the munitions were being held for use by the U.S. military rather than sold to other countries. He said arms sales to allies would resume soon.
Trump criticized former President Joe Biden’s administration over military support provided to Ukraine and claimed that the munitions supplied to Kyiv for free exceeded the amount used by the United States in its operation in Iran.
Trump also claimed that “hundreds of billions of dollars” had been spent on aid to Ukraine and NATO, which he argued should have been covered by Europe, but offered no evidence to support the claim. He said his administration would seek reimbursement for the aid from European countries and indicated that the issue would be raised after a delay.
The remarks came as debate continued over the U.S. military’s resources and munitions consumption while Washington’s operation in Iran continued. Trump defended the U.S. military’s capabilities while also criticizing assessments that the country lacked sufficient weapons and munitions.
