Hezbollah Parliamentary Group Chairman Muhammed Raad announced that Israel has a 60-day deadline to fully withdraw from Lebanese territory. Raad emphasized that during this period, Israel must cease its land, sea, and air attacks and retreat from the occupied areas.
In his statement, Raad called on Lebanese authorities to read the agreement signed between the US and Iran carefully and objectively. He stressed that the provisions of this agreement should be interpreted with consideration of Lebanon’s interests.
Emphasizing the Agreement’s Impact on the Region
Raad noted that the agreement will affect regional and global balances and that Lebanon should be evaluated within this framework. He also warned against underestimating Iran’s capacity to deter Israel if the agreement is violated.
The Hezbollah official added that direct talks between the parties would not serve Lebanon’s interests. According to him, the ongoing conflict against Israel has failed to neutralize Hezbollah or achieve its objectives.
The US-Iran Agreement Also in Focus
Raad’s remarks came after the "Islamabad Agreement" was signed online by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. This agreement is seen as paving the way for ending the war initiated by the US and Israel against Iran.
According to the agreement, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic, and in return, the US will begin lifting its naval blockade on Tehran. With the agreement’s implementation, the two countries are expected to enter a new 60-day negotiation period addressing Iran’s nuclear dossier and international sanctions.
Lebanon-Israel Talks Continue
Raad’s statement came ahead of the fifth Lebanon-Israel negotiations scheduled for June 22. In the previous round earlier this month, the parties reportedly agreed to implement a ceasefire on the condition that Hezbollah completely halts its fire and withdraws its forces south of the Litani River.
Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with the negotiation team in Beirut and gave instructions to the delegation heading to Washington. The presidency announced that Aoun conveyed fundamental principles to the team, including a full ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese lands, deployment of the Lebanese army up to the international border, release of Lebanese detainees, and initiation of reconstruction efforts.
Israel’s presence in southern Lebanon and the timeline for its withdrawal remain central topics in recent diplomatic contacts. Raad’s statement emerged just before these talks, serving as a political message that increases pressure on the parties involved.
