Türkiye’s National Security Council, which convened in Ankara on Wednesday under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said in a statement issued after the meeting that Israel’s government had violated Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The council said these violations were preventing regional stability and called on the international community to take concrete steps against Israel.
The statement said efforts to counter threats targeting national unity and solidarity inside and outside Türkiye, as well as recent international developments, had been assessed.
Goal of a terror-free Türkiye and terror-free region
The council discussed ongoing operations against terrorist organizations, particularly the PKK, FETÖ and Daesh, as well as the steps taken and progress made toward the goals of a “terror-free Türkiye and terror-free region.”
It stressed that Türkiye would continue its efforts with determination to ensure the security of its people and the region, as well as the stability and prosperity of its neighbors.

Syria’s unity and cooperation with Iraq
The meeting also addressed positive developments in the process of strengthening Syria’s unity and territorial integrity and extending state authority across the country. The council said support would continue for the Syrian people as they rebuild their country and strengthen their ties with the international community.
It said Iraq’s security and stability were of great importance for the entire region. The council welcomed the Iraqi government’s efforts to strengthen state sovereignty throughout the country and reiterated the shared determination to develop strategic cooperation with Iraq.
Gaza, Lebanon and the war involving Iran
The statement said the war involving the United States and Israel and Iran had become a vicious cycle of ongoing conflicts and was increasing fragility in the region. It called on the parties to the war to return to negotiations and end the conflict, whose global repercussions were becoming increasingly severe.

The statement said Israel’s government was continuing its attacks in Gaza and Lebanon without fulfilling its obligations and commitments regarding the establishment of peace. The council said Israel’s violation of Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty was also obstructing regional stability.
Russia-Ukraine war and escalation in Yemen
In addition to the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war, the meeting assessed the regional and international effects of attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and maritime transport routes. In the face of rising tensions and signs of uncontrolled escalation, the council called on the parties to exercise restraint and secure a ceasefire.
It said the latest escalation in Yemen was increasing security risks in the region, particularly in neighboring countries. The council stressed that urgent de-escalation was necessary for regional and global stability.
