The Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza received 16 Palestinians released by Israeli authorities.
The International Committee of the Red Cross helped transfer the Palestinians from the Kerem Shalom Crossing to the hospital. The committee also supported the released individuals in contacting their families and reuniting with their relatives.
The Red Cross said it had facilitated the transfer of more than 2,700 people released through the same process since 2023.
Red Cross seeks access to detained Palestinians
The International Committee of the Red Cross said it had been unable to access Palestinians held in detention centers in Israel since October 2023. The committee called for information on the whereabouts and fate of all detainees and for access to those in detention.

The committee also said it was continuing discussions with Israeli authorities to resume visits to protected persons held at detention sites in Israel.
Palestinians continue to be released in limited groups
Israel periodically releases some of the Palestinians detained from the Gaza Strip during the war in limited groups. Palestinian human rights organizations and previously released detainees allege that torture, starvation and medical neglect have occurred in Israeli prisons and detention centers.

The releases took place after a prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel, mediated by Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye and backed by the United States. Under the agreement, which entered into force on October 13, 2025, Israel released approximately 1,700 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
The toll of the war in Gaza
According to Palestinian data, more than 74,000 people have been killed and more than 175,000 wounded in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli attacks carried out with US support. The same data indicates that approximately 90 percent of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed.
A fragile ceasefire entered into force on October 10, 2025, under a plan aimed at ending the war. Palestinian human rights organizations say that more than 9,600 Palestinians, including approximately 350 children and 84 women, are being held in Israeli prisons and that allegations of torture, medical neglect and mistreatment of detainees continue.
