Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined his position on the allocation of ministries in the government planned to be formed at a press conference in the northern city of Acre.
Netanyahu said he plans for the Likud Party, which he leads, to retain the Defense, National Security and Justice ministries.
Ben-Gvir sought two ministries
The plan brought to the fore a disagreement with National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir over how posts would be distributed in the cabinet planned to be formed after the elections.

On Sept. 23, Ben-Gvir had demanded that he be given the Defense Ministry and Tally Gotliv, the Jewish Power Party’s No. 2 figure, be given the Justice Ministry in the government to be formed after the general elections on Oct. 27.
Jewish Power Party’s allegation
The Jewish Power Party argued that the plan to keep the three key ministries in the Likud Party was intended to exclude Ben-Gvir from the coalition government. The party said the plan amounted to a decision to bring Yashar Party leader Gadi Eisenkot into the government instead of Ben-Gvir and the Jewish Power Party and to give the ministries to the “left.”

Addressing Netanyahu at a conference he attended two days earlier, Ben-Gvir said, “Rather than taking the seats away from me, go take one from Eisenkot.”
Accusing Netanyahu of planning to form a unity government with Eisenkot, Ben-Gvir said, “Do not make this mistake. The government must remain entirely right-wing.”
